It may be old news but, a point that needs to be brought up – Google Places Pages were never indexed! This meant that for all you SEO savvy small business owners out there, the potential link juice generated from such a prominent listing was simply non-existent. Well, “the times there a changing” and with the introduction of Google Plus Local, indexing has now entered the playing field.
What Does This Mean For the Business Owner?
As explained by Adam Steele of Nightlite Media in his very insightful post Google+ Local Pages are Indexed: So What?, in theory, this new revelation means there is may be a great potential for building backlinks to your Google Plus Local listing. Not only that but, it also means that your content may also affect your rankings similar to your business’ website.
How Do You Take Advantage?
You’d treat Google Plus Page SEO the exact same way you treat your own website’s SEO. Create great content, optimize for something relevant (with out over doing it) and get quality backlinks & social mentions to it. Good Content + Good Links = Rankings. This applies to any content that is able to be indexed by Google. We like to keep it simple around here like that.
I wonder if Google Plus Pages are being indexed in Bing/Yahoo…? That’d make an interesting story. If someone can tell if they are, be sure to list an example in the comments below. Also let us know, will you be building links to your Google Plus Business Page now that you know they are being indexed…?

Google Plus Pages already indexed in Bing.

Example for a business G+ page (searching for Jongo WebAgentur): http://www.bing.com/search?q=jongo+webagentur&go=&qs=n&form=QBRE&filt=all&pq=jongo+webagentur&sc=0-0&sp=-1&sk=
@mathuseo – awesome, there you have it. Google plus is indexed in Bing/Yahoo too.
I’ll definitely be helping my clients get quality backlinks to their Plus pages. It will be interesting to see if backlinks will make a huge difference.
