Hi Matthew, our company owns a bunch of bars in New Zealand and we want all of our bars to show up when a user of Google Places types in our company name, how do you make this happen? There are a few other companies that own bars where this happens, but not with ours. We have all of our bars listed under the same profile as well.
Also we have changed some of the info for a few of the bars, and to verify we are the owner it only gives us the 'sms' option or the 'call' option, but neither of the numbers are the best way to contact us on... But it does not give an option to change the details to contact on for changes, but we dont want the listing contact number to change... Do you have any advice on how to change this??
Hope that this makes sense, and hopefully you are able to help in some way.
Thanks

Problem fixed. You have to choose "English-United States" at the top right to get the custom categories, offers, etc.

Matthew, I have a verified Canadian Google Places account and there is no option to enter custom categories. I can only choose from the categories that Google specifies in its drop down menus. Am I missing something?

Gord, if it's the first time you set-up your Google Places account then you have to choose from their standard choices, but once the account is verified you can go back in and write 4 other custom choices for categories.

Matthew;
I am unable to add custom categories in the Canadian version of Google Places. Some of my competitors have used custom categories in previous versions and are ranked well for these keywords. Will Google be replacing all these custom categories with their standard ones, or do you think that Canadian businesses will be allowed to enter custom categories again in the future?

Hi Pearl,

You can use the same website if a business has two locations. What has to be different is the address and phone number. Think like a franchise. They multiple locations, so they all share the same name and website, but each location's address and phone numbers is different. That is all Google Places requires to have a second location listing.

Hi Mathew,
If a business has 2 locations and I set up another Google Places listing for the second location, and use a different website address from the 1st location's GP listing, is that advisable as far as getting the 2nd GP listing ranking is concerned?

Thanks.
