GEO Tagging Your Website
Matt Cutts answers another webmaster’s question in the video above about GEO meta tags and how to GEO optimize your website(s).
If you are marketing your local business online it is important that you have your website and/or web properties GEO optimized for search. Google offers a section in their webmaster tools where you can tell them what country your business resides in.
Google almost always gets it right as long as your content shows some words of your GEO location, but sometimes it can be off depending on the url extension you use (ex: .com, .biz, .ca, .au, .info, .org, etc) or where you get your hosting from – therefore this is something to worth while to check and make sure Google is seeing you website’s location correctly.
